Small Talk, is a Big Talk

Small talk is essential to avoid miscommunication and misunderstanding when you’re on a ship sailing the world.

I once worked in a style that was different from what you see of me on social media. My anxiety led me to separate my personal and work life. That turned out not to work, no matter how hard I tried to present a “shell” of my personality. Trust me, even my marketing mind agrees that we need to be approachable while also maintaining boundaries — we can call it “organic marketing,” don’t you agree? After all, we live in a world where socializing is essential, but so is setting boundaries.

The power of small talk not only helps you build your network, but it also lessens your burden at work. Some of you might say, “Don’t befriend someone at work,” but I’d say perhaps you’re uncomfortable with the culture?

The power of small talk can help you achieve your career goals! When I started making small talk, I gathered so many opinions, feedback, and perspectives from my seniors who had been observing the world for so many years. This broadened my own worldview.

The power of small talk can make you live your best life, not only at work but also in your relationships. If you have any burdens, just say it. Tell someone you love them before it’s too late and you don’t have a chance anymore.

Small talk is as simple as the TikTok trend that goes, “POV: random stranger appreciates your style.” That can make someone’s day and, moreover, could start a deep conversation if both people are comfortable.
